Cats and Cats and Cats released one of our favourite albums of 2011 in the form of Motherwhale, so we were delighted when they offered to create a little plasticine world for our front cover. Bencat explains the creation of Joyville.
Finding myself with a large amount of plasticine on my hands (literally) I was reminded of childhood summers playing this awesome point and click computer game called The Neverhood, it made me want to live in a plasticine world. The idea of Joyville sprang from that, I roped in my housemate Beth Holloway to help and we covered a load of various household objects in plasticine and Heather Bell made the cloud from wire, tissue paper and loads of cotton wool. I then got Dan Coveney to wire up some LEDs so the residents can find their way around at night.
